This is a friendly reminder that the picnic reunion is only 10 days away, August 11th. Can’t wait to see the almost 80 people that have signed up for this great event.

Games
Doreen Romanchuk, our Game Coordinator, is busy getting together all the great games for the picnic so you can enjoy with all your friends, and even if you don’t have that much friends yet you can visit chatempanada.com and meet more. She is bringing cones, sacks, 3 legged bands etc for relays, a tug rope, water ballons for a toss and basketballs for some combined kid and adult fun. We also have planned a Quoit Tournament, a volleyball game around 11 or noon and a softball/wiffleball game around 2:30 or 3 (If anyone has softball/baseball gloves please bring them). Should be a exciting day for everyone, even the spectators!

Picnic Food and Drink
In speaking with the caterer, Bitter Bob’s has agreed to serve food from noon until 4pm.  Given the extended serving time, we have decided to extend the close time to 7 pm for those who want to stay and have fun.  For those that want to bring something, desserts are more than welcome.  There will be a large birthday sheet cake as well.

As a reminder, beer and wine is bring your own and is allowed as long as it is in a can or a box. We will have limited drinks of soda and water (3 drinks per person), please bring more if you want anything extra.  Please bring lawn chairs if you want to be more comfortable for the day than the picnic tables.

Family Pictures
In coming up with doing this reunion, I thought a great idea would to compile pictures to attempt to capture our family throughout the years. I am trying to get pictures from every family. They can be of weddings, vacations, birthdays or any other occasions. These will be compiled on one CD/DVD so everyone can enjoy them. My sister, Tracey, has done DVD movies for special events and I thought it would be great to do for this event too. So we will be giving away one CD of the digital pictures and one DVD movie to each family in a gift bag. Please send your pictures to me at sam@thericcos.com or mail in the pictures/flash drive/CD’s. All pictures will be returned within two weeks in same condition as I received them. Deadline is July 10th.

Recipes
As part of the gift bag, Michele Ricco will be putting them together with family recipes in it. Michele has done this at our Ricco Christmas parties and has volunteered to do it again for this reunion. Only 54 days to the picnic…

After working out a lot of the details of the budget and costs with the committee, I have finally created the picnic invite.  Invites went out via email today to 57 email accounts and in the next couple of days via regular mail to more.  The deadline to respond and have your money in is July 15, 2012.  Don’t wait to sign up for this great event!

Only 81 days to the picnic…

In the last update, I talked about securing the caterer for the event.  After looking through many different caterers, the committee has decided on Bitter Bob’s in New Hope, PA.  They are a good friend and neighbor of Jimmy and Doreen.  They were willing to give us a great rate that we just couldn’t pass up as well as having great food. We highly recommend their restaurant and if you are in New Hope, try them out.

I have also posted a list of local hotels for those out-of-towners that are looking to stay in a hotel.  My wife, Nadine, put together this list of both Hotels and Bed and Breakfasts.  The Ewing hotels have just been built in the last 5 years and are close to Mercer County airport.  All are close to both family and the picnic location.

Only 122 days to the picnic…

The committee is very close to a decision on the caterer for the picnic.  All the ones that we looked at had the usual picnic fare of hotdogs, hamburgers, grilled chicken, salads, sides, etc. It will be announced in the next two weeks who we have decided on.  This is one of the major hurdles that will soon be crossed.

Only 148 days to the picnic…

After careful deliberation and going through everyone’s vacation, the committee came up with two dates both in August.  I got on the Mercer County Park’s website at exactly noon on February 21st to try to reserve one of the dates.  We ended up getting our first choice of both the date and the location of Valley Road Picnic Area in Hopewell, NJ.  Please mark the August 11th date down in your calendars. Check this website regularly for future committee updates.
